   Sensei Amilton Barboza was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, South America and his parents and relatives were from Brazil. He started traditional Shotokan Karate Do of Japan as a child in his original country of Montevideo, Uruguay, South America under the U.K.F. ( Uruguayan Karate Federation). His main instructor was Sensei Omar Garcia. He continued the study of Shotokan in New York, N.Y. receiving his Black Belt under instructors: Sensei Bryan Frey and Sensei Lou Correa under the S.K.I. Federation.

   Shotokan Karate International Federation, supervised by Master (Shihan) Hirakazu Kanazawa a direct student of Master Gichin Funakoshi, founder of Shotokan Karate-Do.

   After eighteen years of teaching in New York, Sensei Amilton Barboza graduated from Long Island University and Midaro Institution in Long Island, New York as a certified Karate Instructor.

   Today, Sensei Barboza has been teaching for eight years as a certified 4th Degree Black Belt Karate Instructor and owner of the successful Shotokan Karate Dojo in Merced, Ca.

   Students from Sensei Barboza's Dojo have been very successful in tournaments: traditional, open, international and world championships.

   Sempai Jeff Allen began his Martial Arts training in 1992 at the age of 8 years old in League City, Texas. He joined the American Society of Karate (A.S.K.) organization under chief instructor Bill Grey.

   For the next 5 years he trained as a junior in the junior's class and at the age of 13, completed his junior training as a 2nd degree Red Belt. He then moved on to the adult's class, and because of other circumstances, training came to a halt shortly after obtaining his yellow belt. He continued to practice at home and in 1999, moved with his family to Merced, California.

   In June 1999, he joined the S.K.I. Karate Dojo under Sensei Amilton Barboza and quickly began to learn the way of Shotokan. After 3 years of training, Jeff obtained his 1st Degree Black Belt in 2002.

   Now a 2nd Degree Black Belt, Jeff has taken his place as an an Assistant Instructor, tournament judge, test examiner, and demonstration leader. His experience continues to grow and he remains active today as a "Sempai" (Assistant Instructor) of the S.K.I. Karate Dojo.
